Cap Head Socket Machine Screws

Socket Cap Head Screws

A range of socket cap head screws manufactured with a compact cylindrical head with a deep socket (Allen key) recess which allows easy installation, loosening, and the application of the required torque for a secure hold. This makes them suitable for a range of applications.

Installed with an Allen wrench or hex key sees them widely used and often referred to as cap head bolts in the trade but also known as an Allen key bolt or socket screw.

Available in a range of material including A2, A4 stainless steel, bright zinc plated (BZP), and self-colour steel. Thread types available included metric coarse, imperial unified coarse (UNC), and unified fine (UNF).

What is a cap head socket machine screw?

Cap head socket screws, also known as socket cap screws, are a type of fastener. They are machine screws which have a cylindrical shaped head that contains a hexagonal socket for use with Allen keys or hex keys. When compared with other screws, the socket head screws allow the installer to achieve higher torque and clamping force.

What is a cap head socket screw used for?

Used for many situations but in general is a versatile engineering fastener and are often installed within a counterbore which allows a flush head. Typically used in machine parts where the ability to achieve higher torque, higher clamping force and a flush finish with the material is beneficial.

What is a cap head socket screw made from?

Cap head socket screws come in a variety of materials including A2 stainless steel and A4 stainless steel. Both of these material types offer high levels of resistance to corrosion with the A4 being the most robust. Also available in steel coated in bright zinc plating (BZP), and self-colour steel with a black passivation.
