What are sanding discs?
As the name suggest sanding discs are used across many different industries for sanding, smoothing, and shaping many different types of materials including woods, metal, and plastics.
Typically, circular in shape and designed for use with the many hand-held sanders on the market today. The discs are usually flexible with a Velcro type backing which gives a firm hold but allows a quick change if required.
Many of the sanding discs also include holes in the surface of the disc which aids in the dust extraction. This is taken to the extreme with the Mirka Abranet range of sanding discs, which is more of an abrasive circular mesh.
When used with the correct hand-held sander the Mirka Abranet range of discs ensures that the dust is extracted through a large surface area of the disc for dust free sanding.
